Recognised as Maruyama Ōkyo’s most accomplished disciple, Nagasawa Rosetsu is not only noted for his outstanding painting technique comparable to his master, but also for his unconventional imagination conveyed through his brush. Rosetsu left a great many fine works throughout Japan, as well as anecdotes owing to his cheerful personality and erratic behaviors.
