Galerie OGATA Paris – Selections from Shibunkaku
Dates: Sep 22 (Wed) – Dec 5 (Sun)
With a selection of fourteen works, Shibunkaku presents in about equal share the postwar avant-garde calligraphy by Morita Shiryū and Inoue Yūichi, and abstract painting by notable Japanese artists who bridged the art worlds of East and West during the 1950s and 1960s. Artists include Sugaï Kumi and Miyawaki Aiko, who lived and worked across various European cities during that era, and Imaï Toshimitsu and Dōmoto Hisao, who both had strong connections to the Parisian art scenes and were active in the Art Informel movement.
